WHERE IS THE PROJECT LOCATED?

Nilo Peçanha is a small town in the state of Bahia, south of Salvador. It is located in the Atlantic Forest region.

WHY NILO PEÇANHA IN PARTICULAR?

  • Rainforest region mainly endangered by monocultures
  • Many socially disadvantaged families
  • poor access to education
  • few prospects for the future

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

Protecting the Atlantic rainforest in Brazil and improving future prospects for children, young people and their families through education.

FUTURE PROSPECTS:

A one-year training programme at the Fazenda Saúva (sustainable living in and from the rainforest) opens up prospects despite the lack of schooling, combined with the prospect of jobs after training and/or taking over the parents’/grandparents’ plantations. It protects the rainforest and drinking water and prevents young people from falling into poverty in the big city. A training place costs 3800.-EUR per year for a young person – the young people receive a wage at the end of the month and a certificate at the end of the year. They can use their wages to help provide for their extended family.

Max Brose Hilfe e.V. finances the training of three young participants. https://de.fazenda-sauva.com
